What’s in Season in NZ – January

January is the month to go wild on fruits and vegetables – so many are in season, and tastes delicious!

Dig into piles of fresh berries – strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries are all in plentiful supply right now. You could even bag them up and stash them in your freezer to include in recipes over the year to come.

Stone fruits are also ripening up and hitting the shops – cherries, nectarines, peaches and apricots can be used in both sweet and savoury dishes, so get creative with them in the kitchen this summer.

On the veg side, courgettes (or zucchini), eggplant (aubergine), and green beans are real highlights, and can be fantastic to grill on the BBQ or roast in the oven.

Remember that shopping seasonally helps not only your grocery budget but also your taste buds. The free PICK + PALEO January Seasonal printable sheet is available at the bottom of this post, so don’t forget to pop it in your shopping basket and stock up on fresh fruit and veg!
