What’s in Season in NZ – February

What's in Season in NZ - February

This week we say hello to February and all its seasonal delights.

On the fruit side of things, keep an eye out for passionfruit, pears and rock melons coming in to season, as well as blackcurrants and raspberries which are sure to satisfy your sweet cravings.

You’ll find the supermarkets full of courgettes (or zucchini), cabbage and capsicums – as well as beans, beetroot and broccolini becoming seasonal favourites. We can’t wait to fill our plates with these great veges, and get some zoodles (zucchini noodles) back in our meal plans!

The best part about February is it that it the first official National Watermelon Month led by one of our favourite fruit and veg brand, LeaderBrand. Nothing says summer days like a juicy slice of Watermelon, and this refreshing fruit can be used in salads, salsas, desserts, and even summer cocktails! Watermelon is one of the most guilt-free foods you can get as they are packed with vitamins A and C (and only 40 calories per cup). Add one to your shopping trolley now!

Remember that shopping seasonally helps not only your grocery budget but also your taste buds. The free PICK + PALEO February Seasonal printable sheet is available at the bottom of this post, so don’t forget to pop it in your shopping basket and stock up on fresh fruit and veg!
