Today we’re bringing you the first of a new monthly series here at PICK + PALEO – the Smoothie of the Month! Since we really love smoothies, and figure most people do too, we thought we’d have a go at making these delicious drinks with fresh, seasonal fruit each month. Let us know if you give the Feijoa Matcha Smoothie a try – it’s so good!
Feijoas are dropping like crazy in the gardens of New Zealand this month. The season runs from late March to June, so it is prime time to stock up and start getting this tasty kick of potassium, magnesium, and calcium! They also taste delicious frozen – just scoop the flesh into ice cube trays and you’ll have amazing flavour explosions to add to smoothies for the rest of the year!
The ingredients you will need are easy to find at any health food store. Most supermarkets will have a brand of Match powder – but there’s often hidden sugars in there so check your labels! This brand is one of my faves – it’s creamy and flavoursome and packed full of good stuff. In fact, matcha has 17 times the antioxidant levels of wild blueberries and 10 times the goodness of regular green tea. Winning!
